Going to try to get into the rhythm of doing updates and stuff after a long day of working on a project, and here is my first of many. As you know, I started this wrap (scarf?) last night.
After an hour of placing stitch markers and adjusting my tightness on my foundation chain, I finally got what I needed 91 Single Crochet all in a row. Let me tell you, I forgot the pain that is that initial chain. In the spirit of being fed up with it after having too few one too many times, I tried to learn the foundation single crochet.
In theory, I understand how to maneuver the yarn and the hook to make it work. But, in application…Suffice to say I failed. I got angry and just resumed quietly making chains and tediously trying to make sure sure I was on the right track.
I went to bed, fairly sure, but not certain. I woke up and eventually got a chance to check again to make sure there were no magically added chains to make me angry and ruin my good day (a day spent being productive, and also having a dream shattered. I needed some good news). Lo and behold! The perfect number of stitches!
Anyway, steering off of that tangent, I got to work on this scarf/wrap/whatever. As I slowly progressed, I counted carefully and before moving on to the next row I ran across the one just completed to make sure my repeats are as they should be, as that’s the case- I’ve not gotten too far, but I have gotten to the point where I can just kind of repeat two rows over and over forever so that means I can take it to work and drone it out on autopilot.
Anyway! The point of this update is this photo~
Ah yes! Progress. I’m not IN LOVE with the colors, but I think as it grows it will look better. It’s in it’s awkward stages at the moment, I think.
Look at this fuzzy beast. This…Was an experiment. I wanted to see how my backup plan with fun fur worked. I used it with Mint Blue to make it easy for me to deal with. It’s crazy redonk to crochet with JUST Fun fur.
I think this will suffice though.
Challenge Part One; Tiny Owl
Position on List: 7
Today’s project was a series of tiny Owls. The first one, was mine. Worked in Mint Blue and Bone. After my boyfriend and my room mate saw the owl they both decided that they would like one. I got the colors Charcoal Heather and Grey Heather approved by both of them and started to work.
Definitely a bit of trial and error. To figure out how I wanted to do the faces and wings. The pattern , for me left some room to play with. One has a cape, because my boyfriend likes Batman and he thought the colors were suitable. I’m going to be making a cape for the other gray one, too.
They seem confident that these will be successful in my shop, so I’m hoping. I’ll be whipping up a lot of these in different color schemes with different faces and stuff. I may try to do more elaborate wings and stripes and stuff. Once I get better adjusted to working with Amigurumi.
Definitely not a bad start.
Yes, yes, I have the knitting bug. My yarn addiction is even worse and this project is annoying and confusing. I started this about 3 weeks ago, and frogged it. I didn’t like how it looked. But I started it, got into two repeats and then waited. Gravity worked its magic on it and I started to like how it looks.
Honestly though the yarn overs concern me, because I lose count I’m afraid I’ll screw the whole thing. I keep counting the stitches and some of the occurrences of K6 feel like k5 or more. But so far so good numerically. Started at 26 stitches and I still have 26 stitches. Thankfully.
I think I’ll like it, but I might end up selling it. I’m not entirely sure. I’ll probably try to make it really long. But I have no idea. What do you think I do with it? Make it rally really long or a modest 4 feet or so? I’m considering knitting until my yarn’s depleted but I have absolutely NO idea.
LOOK AT THIS
And, if you don’t want to look at it. Look at these.
That’s right guys. After a little over two months, I finished. Finally. That link up at the top is my Ravelry project page, feel free to keep an eye on projects and such. I have a lot on my “need to make” list so…
That one ear is crazy, I really don’t like that one ear, but it only took about five minutes to make each grey part of the ear. I’m not terribly worried about having to make it. Also, the dye lot on each grey was different. Which hit me when I was trying to attach the hood. The hood is more blue…I guess the dye lot really does matter. Well- I learned something.
Anyway, I just wanted to post this because I’m super proud of myself. With in 15 minutes of leaving my house, I got a compliment on it. So I’m psyched-even though it’s off center and the ear is screwed up.
I’m still counting this as a SUCCESS! And, next up on the completion list? The Seafoam scarf. :3
Success! But it looks weird, and I think maybe, I don’t want a slouch hat, but a beret. I love making things and realizing that I want something else. The joys of being crafty, I guess. But another joy of being crafty, is the ability to try again. So, I’ll do that. And maybe make a beret next, with my loom. I bought a straight loom, too. I want to start a panda scarf for one of my friends. The panda scarf could probably either be worked completely in crochet, or maybe the main piece in Loom knit with the panda parts being in crochet. I’m only sure that I want one. Now, I’m probably going to hunt for a beret pattern, and tonight I’ll knit some more on my kitty scarf. OH! I have good news, I found the LAST grey heather at Walmart. THE LAST ONE. I HAVEN’T SEEN ONE IN WEEKS. It wasn’t even in the right place. It was like five levels below where it was supposed to be. But I have it, so I have plenty of materials for my Kitty scarf. Now I need to finish the scarf part. I balled up the yarn so I could gauge how much yarn I have and how far along I really am. It’s easier like this, even though now I need a yarn bowl so it doesn’t roll around on the ground or the table. That’s about it right now. 😀
That’s my hat on the circular loom, and I was going to finish the band on it tonight but I left my loom hook at home. Which is irking me more than you know. Also, there’s my kitty cat scarf so you know it’s not totally out of commission, I’ve just been quiet. Walmart STILL doesn’t have Grey Heather yarn. >>
Feel my pain and annoyance.
