Bigger Owl pattern

Since THIS PATTERN Is insanely easy to manage, I’m going to attempt to write a pattern for a bigger owl. Using the same basic idea, but increasing the stitches all around. This pattern was written as I was crocheting it, as much to keep my attention on counting and to give myself a workable pattern [as well as, write my own pattern *gasp*!]

Gauge is unimportant, as well as hook size. Bigger Hook=Bigger Stitches=Bigger Owl

I used an I hook with worsted weight yarn

Step One; Make a Magic Loop and DC 12 times into it
Step Two; DC Twice into EACH DC around [24 DC]
Three; *1 DC, 2DC in the next stitch* repeat around [36 DC]
Four-Eight; DC for whole round [36DC]
Nine-Twelve; [Change color -optional-] DC for whole round
Thirteen; *1 DC, DC2Tog* around [24 DC]
14-16 DC around [24 DC]
Seventeen; *1 DC, DC2Tog* [12 DC]
Eighteen-Nineteen; DC Around [12 DC]
*Stuff the bird*

Pinch the two layers together and Crochet through them both for; 1 DC, 1HDC, 3 Sl st, 1 HDC, 1 DC [ears]

WINGS [make 2]
One; make a slip knot, chain 4
Row One; DC in second and last chain, ch 2
Row two; DC in each [4] ch 2
Row Three; DC across [4 dc] ch 2
Row four; 5 DC [continue until wide enough]

Optional; Take another color of yarn and SC around the main color. Make two rounds with it, embellish as you wish.

For the face, just go wild.

The first picture is the actual appearance of the owl currently. The second one, my room mate put Golf Tees for eyes. I liked the placement, so when I add eyes I’ll remove those. They make him look crazy and kind of creepy.

Owl Challenge; Teeny Tiny Owl Keychain

Challenge Part One; Tiny Owl

Position on List: 7

Today’s project was a series of tiny Owls. The first one, was mine. Worked in Mint Blue and Bone. After my boyfriend and my room mate saw the owl they both decided that they would like one. I got the colors Charcoal Heather and Grey Heather approved by both of them and started to work.

Definitely a bit of trial and error. To figure out how I wanted to do the faces and wings. The pattern , for me left some room to play with. One has a cape, because my boyfriend likes Batman and he thought the colors were suitable. I’m going to be making a cape for the other gray one, too.

They seem confident that these will be successful in my shop, so I’m hoping. I’ll be whipping up a lot of these in different color schemes with different faces and stuff. I may try to do more elaborate wings and stripes and stuff. Once I get better adjusted to working with Amigurumi.

Definitely not a bad start.

Headwrap almost done!

I say ALMOST because I’m planning to attach a piece of fabric to it. Perhaps pink or blue, for contrast. If I go with pink, maybe a floral pattern. Or, light blue. I’ll check out my fabric stash tomorrow and see what may work, or I’ll go to walmart and check out some fat quarters or the discard bin.

I’m not sure what I’ll make next- Crocheting for hours at a time makes my hands feel really odd and clumsy. Maybe my next project will be a small scale knitting project. I think I’m ready to knit again after the kitty scarf ordeal. That burnt me out fairly well. xD

I’ll probably have some idea about a knitting project tomorrow. I’ll have my sewing table on the 22nd and be able to sew things again. :3

cool!

But yeah, stuff’s happening and after finals, it’s very likely that lots of stuff will be happening. I’m going to take a couple of semesters off to indulge my hobbies and interests before I get caught up in special courses and mathematics.

Spur of the moment craft

I was looking up things to whip up fairly quickly and I found some headbands, this is the first of what I hope to be many headbands [because good goddess I need to put stuff on my shop!]. This is [obviously] made of pure white, worsted weight yarn and an N hook. It’s really comfortable, unlike a lot of headbands that squeeze your head and make you regret having long hair.

I’m fairly pleased and I’m adding this one the shop, I’ll probably make a shawl with this color yarn to match it- not necessarily to sell WITH the headband but mainly just kind of in the same vein. Just because.

I’m doing these small quick little projects to make myself motivated again- I’ve been feeling pretty blah lately, even with the medicine making me feel all around better.

I’m in the market, as it were, for a new table for my sewing machine. Since I don’t have one and it is currently hanging out in my bedroom floor. I found this one from Ikea that I think would be absolutely PERFECT. Just a matter of ordering it.

I may just make these headbands in a rainbow of colors just for the fun of it. :3

More personal greeting!

Well, guys, I’m at work and I was thinking about what I said earlier about putting everything I do on here. My writing, drawing, photography….Maybe even coding experiments [since I figured out what I’m going to school for]. Who knows?

Anyway, I figured I’d draw a picture for you guys as a personal Hi and thank you for following my sporadic posting schedule and giving me your support though comments, likes or simply just following my blog. It really makes me very, very happy to see when I get a new follower or  I get a comment. I really, sincerely appreciate all of you. Honestly, thank you so much!

Hi!

I’m a bit out of practice with my drawing, since I’ve not drawn in over a year, but there you go. It’s for you. 😀

Photoshop is a bit weird to use again, layers and blending and all that jazz. I’ve been learning the basics of drawing again with this amazing little book called “You can draw in 30 days” and it’s really fantastic. If you want to learn how to draw, I recommend it highly. There is SO MUCH you can do with cubes. Honestly. I’m kind of amazed.

Anyway, I’ll tie this up here. ❤

VICTORY!!!!!!

LOOK AT THIS

And, if you don’t want to look at it. Look at these.

That’s right guys. After a little over two months, I finished. Finally. That link up at the top is my Ravelry project page, feel free to keep an eye on projects and such. I have a lot on my “need to make” list so…

That one ear is crazy, I really don’t like that one ear, but it only took about five minutes to make each grey part of the ear. I’m not terribly worried about having to make it. Also, the dye lot on each grey was different. Which hit me when I was trying to attach the hood. The hood is more blue…I guess the dye lot really does matter. Well- I learned something.

Anyway, I just wanted to post this because I’m super proud of myself. With in 15 minutes of leaving my house, I got a compliment on it. So I’m psyched-even though it’s off center and the ear is screwed up. :/

I’m still counting this as a SUCCESS! And, next up on the completion list? The Seafoam scarf. :3

My own hat!

2013-12-23 12.45.42

I guess I lied about that cowl, with this lovely wine colored yarn. I made a hat! It looks pretty good, and the best part? It’s reversible! One side, slanting lines. The other is clean and crisp. I kind of like it. It was going to be a beret, but I don’t have anything to block it with. :c
