I’m pretty much in love with the Deer Villager Bruce, apparently I may be one of the few because I could find NOT A SINGLE perler sprite of him or a pattern. So I made one. And I have successfully made Bruce now I’ll have him forever :3
I’m so sorry, guys I fell off the crafting wagon and recently climbed back up. I have started making perler bead sprites!
I decided to pick it up after being jealous of some of the cute (really cute) things I’ve seen people make of them- I’m going to make an effort to start blogging again, I’m sorry I disappeared.
The Vault Boy was the first thing ever that I made with Perlers, I made it for my boyfriend. The heart is for my best friend, because she likes kingdom hearts (she wanted to change the color scheme). I made the corgi also for my boyfriend, it took me like 4 hours. Then the latest things, the bunny is for my Supervisor at work who has fallen ill. And the kitty is mine, my subtle way of coming out of the broom closet.
I’ll try to post you guys a few things as I get them done, I actually have the itch to start making things again. So keep and eye out!
For some reason, I think this is my favorite owl yet. I like his colors and his shape. He’s not got a face yet- but I’ll add button eyes and a felt beak. :3
For this, I doubled the original patter. Started with 12 in the magic loop, doubled to 24, then 36. I SC’d for a long time and decided at some point to decrease to 24 with the [1SC, SC2tog]. I did a few more rounds of SC then decreased again to with [1SC, SC2Tog]. Then I stuffed him and gave him ears.
That pattern was a good starting point, I don’t even need it anymore. Just kind of decide to make an owl and go.
This owl type will be 10.00 on my Etsy shop, and the ones I showed you yesterday, the Burgundy/Gold and Mint/Gold/Burgundy will be with the 6.00 owls as soon as I set them up with wings and peepers.
Since THIS PATTERN Is insanely easy to manage, I’m going to attempt to write a pattern for a bigger owl. Using the same basic idea, but increasing the stitches all around. This pattern was written as I was crocheting it, as much to keep my attention on counting and to give myself a workable pattern [as well as, write my own pattern *gasp*!]
Gauge is unimportant, as well as hook size. Bigger Hook=Bigger Stitches=Bigger Owl
I used an I hook with worsted weight yarn
Step One; Make a Magic Loop and DC 12 times into it
Step Two; DC Twice into EACH DC around [24 DC]
Three; *1 DC, 2DC in the next stitch* repeat around [36 DC]
Four-Eight; DC for whole round [36DC]
Nine-Twelve; [Change color -optional-] DC for whole round
Thirteen; *1 DC, DC2Tog* around [24 DC]
14-16 DC around [24 DC]
Seventeen; *1 DC, DC2Tog* [12 DC]
Eighteen-Nineteen; DC Around [12 DC]
*Stuff the bird*
Pinch the two layers together and Crochet through them both for; 1 DC, 1HDC, 3 Sl st, 1 HDC, 1 DC [ears]
WINGS [make 2]
One; make a slip knot, chain 4
Row One; DC in second and last chain, ch 2
Row two; DC in each ch 2
Row Three; DC across [4 dc] ch 2
Row four; 5 DC [continue until wide enough]
Optional; Take another color of yarn and SC around the main color. Make two rounds with it, embellish as you wish.
For the face, just go wild.
The first picture is the actual appearance of the owl currently. The second one, my room mate put Golf Tees for eyes. I liked the placement, so when I add eyes I’ll remove those. They make him look crazy and kind of creepy.
Challenge Part One; Tiny Owl
Position on List: 7
Today’s project was a series of tiny Owls. The first one, was mine. Worked in Mint Blue and Bone. After my boyfriend and my room mate saw the owl they both decided that they would like one. I got the colors Charcoal Heather and Grey Heather approved by both of them and started to work.
Definitely a bit of trial and error. To figure out how I wanted to do the faces and wings. The pattern , for me left some room to play with. One has a cape, because my boyfriend likes Batman and he thought the colors were suitable. I’m going to be making a cape for the other gray one, too.
They seem confident that these will be successful in my shop, so I’m hoping. I’ll be whipping up a lot of these in different color schemes with different faces and stuff. I may try to do more elaborate wings and stripes and stuff. Once I get better adjusted to working with Amigurumi.
Definitely not a bad start.
In honor of my favorite Goddess and Patroness, Athena, I’m making my next challenge to myself an Owl. And owl SOMETHING. I’m tied between three or four different things.
- This one from ravelry
- Jip the Owl
- Owl Bag
- This one from Repeat Crafter Me
- This one from Is it A Toy
- A snuggly Owl Pillow
- Teeny tiny owl keychain
- Owl Motif for a scarf or headband
- These little owls
I really want to make something OWL related, I was looking for a Lacy Owl pattern. I may make a Filet with an Owl or something. Hell, I may knock out multiple things on this list. I may have to make a new page and cross these off as I’m done with them. The Motif would really be an addition to another project.
With the owl bag, I wouldn’t make it “Sleepy”. I’d probably make it that weird Half Glare that owls do with half lidded eyes. Seriously may make that key chain- or lots of them. Depending how quickly I pick up this technique. I mean, it’s essentially the same it’s just more dimensional.
I’ll select my colors and Opening Project tomorrow and begin the challenge, You’ll definitely be updated. OH!
Also! I ordered LOTS of yarn, so there will be a new haul post with so many pretty yarns. :3
MOUNTAINS OF YARN. MOUNTAINS OF PLANS. I have the PERFECT yarn for these adorable cupcake bears . Aren’t those adorable? I have this lovely fuzzy “eyelash” yarn in this nice crisp white for the bears, and possibly a Kitty. We’ll see.
- Going to make owl
- Picking colors tomorrow
- Will update
- Also butt tons of yarn
- Yay excitement
There you go! I finished that wrist cuff-band thing. I put a place for like, a button closure or perhaps a tie. Which is what those loops are for, on either end.
Also, I’ve had that bone headband done for a while- but I just now managed to close it so it’s functional. Tomorrow, once I figure if I’m going to use a button or whatever on the band, I’ll probably make more. In different colors, or maybe not- I don’t know.
I have lots of yarn to make stuff out of- I just have to find stuff to make. I’ve also started a baby blanket with that pastel yarn that I made that headwrap with. Just because I really don’t like that yarn, now that I think about it, so I’ll just use it all up on a baby blanket. Since it actually looks cute for that.
